Fortis Fertility - Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy: a minimally invasive procedure to detect gynecologic pathology and causes of infertility

Laparoscopy is a camera procedure to view the ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, and other organs in the abdomen using a laparoscope. A laparoscope is a thin telescope with a light source and camera attached.

How laparoscopy is performed?

In laparoscopy, an incision is made in the abdomen (in or just under the belly button) through which the laparoscope and other special surgical instruments are inserted. The magnified image displayed by the laparoscope helps the doctor to perform major surgery with precision, through very small cuts.

A laparoscopic or 'keyhole' surgery is a minimally invasive procedure used in the treatment of cysts, endometriosis, ectopic pregnancies (pregnancy in the fallopian tube), hydrosalpinx (fluid-filled distorted fallopian tubes), and fibroids. It is also useful in pelvic floor reconstruction and hysterectomy. It is generally performed under general anaesthesia.

What laparoscopy is used for

Laparoscopy is mainly used to:

Benefits of laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is relatively painless (even after general anaesthesia wears off) and ensures a quicker recovery time as compared to traditional surgery (which usually involves a one or two-day hospital stay). Scarring to the abdomen is minimal in this procedure.

Fortis provides world-class laparoscopic surgery for infertility in Bangalore. At Fortis, you can be sure of safe laparoscopy.
